On December 16, 2025, the premises of St. Paul’s Cathedral in Panapuoth came alive with celebration as the Christian Initiative for Restoration and Development Agency (CIRDA) graduated the “Second Generation” of Church and Community Transformation (CCT) Facilitators.

Hosted by the Episcopal Diocese of Wanyjok, this ceremony marked a significant milestone in the journey toward sustainable, church-led community development in Northern Bahr el Ghazal State.

Ten dedicated facilitators were honored for successfully completing a comprehensive training program funded by Tearfund. Spanning from June 2021 to 2023 in Akuem, this rigorous training equipped the graduates with practical skills to help communities address poverty, dependency, and social challenges by utilizing their own God-given resources.

Rt. Rev. Joseph Mamer Manot, the Executive Director of CIRDA and Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Wanyjok, officiated the ceremony. He praised the enduring partnership with Tearfund and highlighted the transformative power of the CCT approach.

“This graduation is not just the end of a training program, but the beginning of a mission,” said Bishop Joseph Mamer Manot. “These facilitators are being sent back to their communities as agents of transformation, hope, and reconciliation. Through CCT, our people are learning that they are not helpless, but capable of changing their own stories.”

Tearfund South Sudan was represented by Mr. Gama Clement, accompanied by Tearfund Aweil Program Manager, Mr. Joseph. Mr. Clement challenged the graduates to put their knowledge into action, thanking CIRDA for their excellence in implementation.

The event was graced by a wide array of distinguished guests who offered speeches of encouragement. Attendees included the Acting Commissioner of Aweil East County, the Area MP, and representatives from the State Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. Also in attendance were civil society leaders, the Women’s Union, NGOs, various church denominations, security forces, youth leaders, and local chiefs.

The speakers collectively applauded the CIRDA-Tearfund partnership for building resilient communities through farming and livelihood activities, urging the new facilitators to continue the fight against poverty.

This cohort builds upon a strong legacy. The First Generation of CCT facilitators (36 graduates) were trained in Malual Baai and Warawar between 2015 and 2021, graduating in 2021. Today’s event reaffirms the commitment of the Church and its partners to seeing communities in Aweil East thrive through unity and self-reliance.

On 9th December 2025 our GBV trainers conducted awareness and training on SGBV, in Mabok- Geng, sharing short- and long-term impacts on early marriage and force marriage to individuals, families and communities, Healthy family brings healthy community and healthy nation and healthy institutions.
Women in Mabok- Geng were so much delighted for having received this important training that has

opened their eyes, and it has encouraged them to join the fight against force and early marriages and any form of sexual abuses against girls, women and boys.

CIRDA is reaching out to most of remote villages that are hard to reach where many young girls, women and young boys are suffering through sexual abuse in silence to create awareness and encourage community especially church leaders and women to boldly share sexual cases with authorities’ legal institutions and combats against it.
CIRDA offers trauma healing training to church leaders, community leaders and high school students to become trauma healers and facilitators, they are getting not only inspired by these transformative initiatives, but they are boldly involved in protecting the young girls and anybody being sexually abused, we are happy that community members are able to share with CIRDA team any SGBV related cases.
We want to encourage our communities to rise fight against sexual Gender Based Violence within our communities, it is a human right violation, abusing young girls, women, boys and vulnerable ones is against God and God hate it.
We give thanks and honor to God giving us opportunities to serve Him is different ways.

Christian Initiative for Restoration and Development Agency (CIRDA-SS) participated in 16 Days of Activism Against Sexual Gender Based violence (SGBV) not by organizing an event but by reaching out to wider communities through Weer Bei FM. Our team walk to local Radio to have Radio talk show, sharing with the public that Sexual abuses and Gender based violence are not only harmful but human Rights violations against humanity. CIRDA-SS has so far records number of cases of Gender based violence causes against women and minor girls or underage which is not acceptable. Our GBV team has widely shared with the public about SGBV, and it’s impacts to lives. SGBV must stop in our society, we must all join hand to fight against Sexual gender-based violence, it is a disease that requires a collective effort, thankful to churches here in NBeG State for joining hands with CIRDA to disseminate and create more awareness against SGBV. Many cases are being reported by churches and community facilitators and healers. We appeal to our communities and churches to report cases related to SGBV to relevant institutions for assistance and guidance. CIRDA also give little and once time support to sexually assault or abused victims, but the very important thing CIRDA does is the psychological and counseling support we offer to victims, we help them restore dignity, respect and love. And finally, we share with them some stories from the Bible that give them hope and courage to continue with life as being sexually abused is not the end of life because sometime, victims commit suicide, but they are helped from such a situation and restore their hope to see life differently.
